7,107 islands. 3 major parts. 1 country. The Republic of the Philippines. This 300-square kilometers is the 64th largest country in the world. With its abundant natural resources and great biodiversity, Philippines is also known for rich diversified cultures, traditions, and history. It is also famous for its wonderful beaches, scenic destinations, and sumptuous local dishes.
There are so many places to visit in the Philippines. Among the 7,107 islands, here are my favorite travel destinations:
1. Manila /Ma-Ni-Lah/
If you are looking for historical heritages, this is the right place for you. You will find here the “Walled City” or also known as the Intramuros. A lot of historical events happened here from the time of the Spanish government. It gets interesting to know that the old times were still preserved – old churches, kalsesas, and … Aside from heritages, you could also find a lot of restaurants and shopping areas in Manila. Restaurants offer various kinds of cuisines, tastes, styles and presentations. You could also have an extreme shopping in Manila. Go to Divisoria and Greenhills because they usually have cheaper prices as compared to the malls.
2. Baguio /Bag-yo/
Want a cold place to stay in? Baguio suits you well. Baguio is a mountainous city that has a cold climate. This is why it is called as, “The Summer Capital of the Philippines”. In just one day, you could already visit all of their tourist attractions. You could try activities like horseback riding, boating, biking and strawberry picking. Baguio City is also known for honest taxi drivers, polite locals, cheap vegetables and thrift markets.
3. Boracay /Bo-ra-kai/
Are you ready to dip in the water? Nightlife? White sand beaches? This is the perfect place for you. The place is subdivided into three stations. Wide white sand beaches are located in Station 1, Shopping, and Nightlife in Station 2, and when you’re looking for a quiet place to stay, Station 3. There are also water activities that you can avail of – diving, wind surfing, snorkeling, parasailing, and island hopping. Nightlife is also evident in Boracay. You could meet new people from different places and countries, and can party until dawn.
4. Puerto Princesa, Palawan /Puer-to Prin-sesa Pa-La-Wan/
“The City in a Forest” and “Philippines’ Cleanest and Greenest City”. These two are nicknamed to Palawan because of its environmental excellence. This is where you can find one of the 7 Wonders of the World – the Underground River. Its river has a length of 8.2 kilometers and said to be the longest navigable underground river not only in the Philippines but around the world. Puerto Princesa offers government synchronized tour packages. These packages are priced reasonably and are worth the penny. You’ll enjoy sight-seeing, heritage visits, island hopping, and yes, the Underground River.
5. Davao /Da-Vow/
Are you ready for some sort of adventure? Visit Davao now because in Davao, Life is here. Island hopping, crocodile watching, strolling at People’s Park, shopping, and dining – are not the only activities that you can do in Davao. Aside from aforementioned, wild adventures are also being offered – zip lines, 10-kilometer river rafting, wakeboarding, trekking, and a lot more of water adventures. Feeling hungry? Satisfy your cravings with variety of choices – different cuisines, buffet, ala carte, street foods, fresh sea foods, and merely just everything!
6. Tagaytay /Tah-Gai-Tai/
If you want to relax and need a quiet place to stay, you must go to Tagaytay. It’s just a 2-hour drive from Manila. Tagaytay also has a cold climate. With its chilly climate, it is a perfect place to hang-out and to enjoy scenic-viewing. Tagaytay is most famous for its Taal Volcano. You can go hiking and cater-viewing. Other activities in Tagaytay may include: picnics, zip lines, and spiritual journey. You could also have fun at Sky Ranch Theme Park. You can enjoy the rides with a cost of P50 per ride. You can also find there the “Philippines’ Tallest Ferris Wheel”.
